WriteHouse

What is WriteHouse?

WriteHouse is the little sibling of WriteCamp Milwaukee with a similar feel to the larger unconference. It is an evening of writing, chatting, networking, and critiquing. As well, we hope to help build the community at UWM and other colleges in the Milwaukee area with this outreach. Unlike WriteCamp, which is a large and pricey event, WriteHouse is much smaller and therefore will be much more regular throughout the year.

What’s an unconference?

An unconference is a facilitated, face-to-face, and participant-driven conference. This means that we organize WriteCamp, but the content of the conference is determined by the people who come. You decide whether you want to be a presenter and which ad-hoc presentations you wish to attend.

Who can attend?

WriteHouse is free and open to the public; therefore, anyone can attend. We encourage people to invite their friends, colleagues, coworkers, and family if they feel that those people are interested in writing or interested in being a part of Milwaukee's large literary community.

When and Where will it be?

WriteHouse2 will be on April 20th, 2011 at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee's Student Union, Second Floor.
2200 E Kenwood Blvd
Milwaukee, WI 53211

How is WriteHouse structured?

WriteHouse2 will have three rooms. Each room will be dedicated to a particular topic or activity. As we finalize what those are, we will post that information here (so keep coming back).

What is the schedule for the event?

Sign-in and activities begin at 6pm. The evening will go until 10pm with regular activities going throughout the evening.

How can I help out with WriteHouse?

Volunteers are always welcome. Please email James Boone Dryden at boone@milwaukeewritersworkshop if you'd like to help out.
