Next Novel Group Meeting - 7/27/09Our next meeting is 6:30pm Monday, July 27th at the Wauwatosa Public Library (second floor, conference room #5). We'll be reviewing Destalis chapters 25-30 (Incarceration through Revelation). For this week, fill out the Mid Review Form. Find both the chapters and review forms at www.destalis.com.
WriteHouse 1In the awesome wake of WriteCamp, we've decided to continue the atmosphere of a collaborative writing effort by putting together an event called WriteHouse. This will be a much smaller event than WriteCamp, but it will be no less impactful. What is WriteHouse? WriteHouse will be an afternoon and evening of writing, critiquing, collaborations, and project building for writers of all kinds. Unlike WriteCamp, there won't be any formal sessions, but we hope that some folks will offer some table talks about their expertise or experience. If you have any ideas, questions, offers, please let us know. We're looking for volunteers and sponsors (as it will be another free event). For more information, visit www.writecampmilwaukee.com (or check back here, as I'll be updating both). You can always contact me with questions, too. Cheers,
Bucketworks ClosingJust as an FYI to everyone in the group (and the community), Bucketworks has decided to find a new home. Thus, they will be closing their location on 6th & Vliet until they can find said home. With that in mind, we will be moving the short story group to the Anodyne Coffee Roasters on S Kinnickinnic Ave until further notice. Most likely in August, we'll be allowed to start using the space at Gravity Marketing and be able to host all of our groups there. I'll keep folks posted with the regular weekly updates.
Next Novel Group Meeting - 6/29/09Our next meeting is 6:30 Monday, June 29th at the Wauwatosa Library conference room. An in-depth discussion of Greg Spry's Destalis Chapters 13-18 will be the main focus of this meeting. These chapters can be found on Greg's site (email him for download instructions). Use the Middle Critique Sheet for discussion notes (found in the Current Stories segment of this site). The last few minutes of the meeting we'll quickly review an agent query letter for the novel 2030. Individual group members who read that novel can look for it in their email In-Box.
Short Story GroupThe next short story group will be meeting on June 21st from 1pm-4pm at Bucketworks. Bucketworks is on the corner of 6th St. and Vliet St. just off McKinley Ave. We will be reading "The Silver Lining" by Boone Dryden and "Too Close to Nothing" by Ian Jackson. Please look at the Current Stories section of the site in order to download material. If you have any questions, please email me at boone@milwaukeewritersworkshop.com
