Up and Running

Finally got my ISP up and running on my home computer. If that didn't work, I was going to get a laptop. Tough decision. Really tough.

It's Memorial Day Weekend and I'm home with bronchitis and sinusitis. I am sick, but in a good way :) The best, really. It's very Victorian, feeling so entitled to my bed.

Went to my first Short Story gathering a couple of Sundays ago. AWESOME group, really! It'll take me time to get up to speed, but I'm looking forward to running with this crowd and improving my writing.

Am not going to make it to Bucketworks tomorrow, but I will be there for the subsequent meeting.

I'm just about finished reading a good first novel: _broken for you_ by Stephanie Kallos. I'm enjoying so much about this story and her writing. If you've ever savored novel, especially a first novel, where the writer's strengths and weaknesses have not yet been smothered or sanitized, you'd enjoy this.

Thank you! (Olive says hello)

Novel Group

The next meeting for the Novel group will be held May 18th at 6:30 pm at the Wauwatosa Public Library. The current piece being looked at is Pat Lafferty's "2030" which is up on the site's Current Stories section.

If you've been concidering joining the novel group, now would be a great time. The group will begin reading the first section of the next novel submission following this meeting. Show up on the 18th around 7:30 to introduce yourself, get to know the other group members and experience the last few comments of a critiquing session.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (boone@milwaukeewritersworkshop.com) or Greg Spry (grspry@gmail.com).

Short Story Group

The next meeting of the short story group will be on May 10th at Bucketworks on 6th and Vliet.

We will be reading "Coffee Talk" by C.S. and "Mayor Henri" by Katie Jozwik. These are both relatively short pieces, so we may throw in another one sometime before the group.

We will also be discussing pacing during the workshop portion. If you're interested in discussing the topic, please feel free to bring your own material to talk about or give to the group.

If you have any questions, please contact me (Boone).
